Lexmark Cloud Platform lets customers manage, configure and operate printers remotely within an organization.
While this platform facilitates customers to manage and configure printers, it also has a section that provides customer visibility of the printer practices being done within an organization. We call this section Reporting App. where customers can generate reports and charts of printer activities.
PROBLEM
How might we make customers aware of the printer practices being done in their organization?

With so many printers within an organization, managing the printer resources becomes a crucial factor for the customers to make it cost effective. While there are indicators on hardware when the ink cartridge goes empty, there was no way to see the usage digitally in real-time.

OPPORTUNITY
What if we design reports for customers that shows printer usage charts and cartridge history?
​
Buying printers is a one time investment. However, what matters the most is saving the cost associated with the printer resources.
Anybody would love to see real-time data of printer usage within their organization as it can greatly reduce the cost. We observed that most of the times, customers just removes or replaces the ink cartridges from one printer to another even when there is some ink left. This mix and match among the printers affects the cost and customer might lose the track of the replaced cartridges.

Real-time information about the printer can help you efficiently manage the printer resources.

We also found that most of the time the cartridges are abruptly taken out of one printer and put in another, thus mismanagement of the resources would directly affect the business.
​
The level of report can be accessed on single user profile or at organization level.

Looking back and
Connecting the dots.
This was my first internship as a UX Designer- my first step into a professional world. Apart from learning with the great team members and my manager, I also learned about conducting my skills for real-world application with professionalism. I felt responsible for the work I was doing and also grateful to learn working knacks from my manager.
